WESTLAND — After announcing his candidacy for the 13th Congressional District in Michigan at the end of October, State Senator Glenn Anderson has seen a wave of support flow into his campaign in a short amount of time.  The Anderson campaign is off to a very aggressive start, garnering over 45 endorsements from local elected officials.

With just a few weeks of actual fundraising, inside the holiday season, Anderson’s campaign was able to bring in $64,413.40 from 127 contributions, and still has over $56,000 on hand.  The Anderson campaign finished this quarter with the largest amount of individual contributions, with over $63,000 in total, a strong indication of his fundraising ability and the demand for responsive representation in the 13th District.

“These numbers show that our campaign will be aggressive and I have the ability to win,” Anderson said.  “I want to give the residents of the 13th District a voice that will speak loud and clear on their behalf in Congress, and based on the amount of support my campaign has seen in such a short period of time, I’m confident that we will have the opportunity to do just that.”

With a competitive race already well underway, Anderson has moved quickly to garner support from throughout the 13th District. With overwhelming support from local and state officials, the campaign has been bolstered by a large number of community leaders.  “The amount of encouragement that I have received since announcing my bid for Congress has been overwhelming,” Anderson said.

Due to redistricting, the 13th District has drawn five candidates to the August 7 primary election, and clearly favors Anderson.  Senator Anderson stands out as the only candidate with both local and state level experience.
